sculptures - recent work

For the past decade I have been creating mixed media sculpture that examines various aspects of bodily experience. Many of these pieces begin with a specific idea about an anatomical system or function which then gets translated into an abstracted sculptural
language. I often use intentionally unusual materials incongruently imposed onto elegant forms. Often the tactility of materials emphasizes the visceral physicality of the work, and brings an awareness of the objectness of the sculpture and the corporeality of the viewer. I attempt to create forms that can not be easily named or located but which have a familiar resonance.
